In Phnom Penh, the city bus has been offering the service to citizens for almost 9 years and is still growing. It is the only public transportation, and also the cheapest way to explore the city. The fare for the public buses is KHR1,500 (USD0.375) per voyage irrespective of distance. You pay every time you hop on the bus. If you compare the price with other transportation, it’s the cheapest one. Seniors (over 70), children (under 1 meter), people with disabilities, monks, teachers, and students can travel for free, but they must provide identification. The system opened to the public in 2014 with 5 lines.

Travels from Prek Pnov Bus Station, going to Kilometer 9 Terminal, going south on National Road 5, circling Old Stadium Roundabout, traveling south alongside Monivong Boulevard (National Highway 1), passing Chbar Ampov Market, cuts across Kbal Thnal Stop, crosses Monivong Bridge, and ends at Oknha Souy Sophan Bus Terminal.
Line 2
Travels from Old Stadium Roundabout, turn right on street 47, move around Wat Phnom, go south of Norodom Boulevard (National Road 2), go around Independent Monument, crosses Kbal Thnal SkyBridge, and arrives at Tonle Bassac Ta Khmao Bridge (Prek Samrong Bridge) Ta Khmao the capital of Kandal Province.

Travels from Russey Keo Park Terminal, going south on National Road 5, circling Old Stadium Roundabout, going around Wat Phnom, moving south on Norodom Boulevard (National Road 2), around Central Market, traveling west alongside Kampuchea Krom Boulevard, crossing 7 Makara Sky Bridge, going west on Russian Federation Boulevard, around Chaoum Chaou Circle Garden, moving south on National Road 3, and stops at Borey Santepheap 2 Terminal.

Travels from Russey Keo Garden Terminal, going south on National Road 5, circling Old Stadium Roundabout, going around Wat Phnom, moving south on Norodom Boulevard (National Road 2), around Central Market, traveling southwest alongside Charles de Gaulle Street (217), crosses Kong Hing Stop, cuts across Olympic Water Reservoir Stop, going southwest alongside Monireth Boulevard (217), crossing Steung Mean Chey Sky Bridge, moving west on Veng Sreng Boulevard. turns left at Canadia Water Reservoir Stop, passing Toul Pongror Market, and stops at Borey Santepheap 2 Terminal.

Travels from Russey Keo Garden Terminal, going south on National Road 5, circling Old Stadium Roundabout, going around Wat Phnom, moving south on Norodom Boulevard (National Road 2), around Central Market, traveling southwest alongside Charles de Gaulle Street (217), crosses Kong Hing Stop, cuts across Olympic Water Reservoir Stop, going southwest alongside Monireth Boulevard (217), crossing Steung Mean Chey Sky Bridge, moving west on Veng Sreng Boulevard, going around Chaom Chau Circle Garden, traveling west on National Road 4, and ends at Special Economic Zone Terminal.
All of these lines are busy at lunchtime from 11 AM to 1 PM because it is the time that all the students leave school. Additionally, from 4:30 PM to 7 PM is also busy as well because all the workers, students, and some sellers are leaving at this hour.
