To get this document, foreigners must request the letter at the local commune (Sangkat) office where the applicant lives or has resided in Cambodia. Apply for the certificate of residence will NOT be free of charge. 

Applicants need to bring the following paperwork (foreign)

• Provide proof of residency in the form of a passport
• Rental Agreement
• Employment Letter
• other relevant documentation

The residence certificate letter contains the following details:

• The resident’s name  
• The address of their home 
• The duration of the resident’s stay or stays at that address. 

Foreigners are advised to accelerate the procedure by getting a Residence Certification Letter from the local commune (Sangkat) office before leaving their Cambodian place of residence.
