The cost of living in Phnom Penh is divided into 4 major categories which is Housing, Utilities, Food and Transportation 

• Housing 
  • For an apartment or condo in the center of the city, the average monthly rent would be from $400 to as high as $1500 depending on the room, the location and the facilities along with the service that is provided by the apartment or condo.
  • Condo and Apartment that is not in the center of the city would cost less, maybe around $250 – $400 per month on average.
• Utilities
  • The utilities costs in Phnom Penh can vary depending on the number of people living in the apartment. For a single person living in a 1-bedroom apartment, the average monthly utilities (electricity, water, internet) are typically around $50. However, for family living, the average monthly utilities tend to be higher, around $100 on average.
  • The cost of internet service in Phnom Penh varies based on the internet speed and the service provider. Generally, the average monthly cost for a standard home or apartment internet connection is around $20. However, it is common for most apartments and condos in Phnom Penh to provide residents with free WiFi.
• Food
  • The cost of food can vary depending on whether you eat out or prepare meals at home. Homemade meals tend to be more affordable, with the average monthly cost for a home-cooked meal being around $100 per person. Grocery shopping can also be more cost-effective if you buy from local markets instead of supermarkets, as the prices are generally lower at local markets. 
  • When dining out at a decent restaurant, the average menu item costs around $5. When accounting for drinks and any additional items, the total cost per person for a full meal is typically around $10. This price range applies to breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals.
  • When ordering food for delivery from outside, the delivery fee can range from $0.50 to $2. 
• Transportation  
  • Public transportation options in the area include taxis and tuk-tuks, with fares that vary based on the distance traveled and the type of vehicle. Taxis, which can accommodate up to 4 passengers, typically cost around $0.75 per kilometer on average for a trip to a location at a reasonable distance. For tuk-tuk rides, the fare to a location at a similar distance is generally in the range of $0.40 per kilometer on average.
  • For individuals who have their own personal vehicles, such as cars or motorcycles, the average cost of gasoline is approximately $1.10 per liter

The overall cost of living in Cambodia is quite low compared to many other parts of the world, making it an attractive destination for expats and digital nomads. However, costs can add up quickly in the capital city of Phnom Penh.
