By law, every driver who drives in the Kingdom of Cambodia needs a valid drivers license.
Nowadays, you can apply for a driving test or an exchange of driving license through the Ministry of Public Works and Transport’s driving license issuance online system’s website: https://driverlicense.mpwt.gov.kh. or you can come to any of the MPWT’s service center, located at Aeon Mall Phnom Penh (Aeon1), Aeon Mall Sek Sok City (Aeon2), Provincial One Window Service Unit, Heavy Vehicle Training Center, Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport offices in Cambodia to apply for a driving test. For Type A and B driving license, you can apply for a driving test online via the online system; however, for Type C and above, you are required to go through a driving training at any registered driving school to obtain a certificate of prove of training before applying for the driving test.
- Copy of Khmer Nationality Identity Card Certified by the Competent Authority
- 3 white 4×6 photos
- Medical Certificate
- Old driver’s license (for duplicate and triple exchange)
- Certificate of driving school education (for driving test, type C, D and E).
Required documents for foreigners who want to take the Cambodian driver’s license exam or want to change from a driver’s license from their home country to a Cambodian driver’s license include:
- Passport
- Valid visa
- Certificate of current residence issued by the competent authority
- 3 white 4×6 photos
- Medical Certificate
- Your national driver’s license, which is valid in the case of non-English or French, must be translated into English or Khmer from the embassy of your country (for a driver’s license)
- The cost of changing driver’s license is 120,000 riels.
